A well-respected and longtime Charleston County educator has been tapped as the next leader for the Charleston Charter School for Math & Science.
The school’s governing board picked Juanita Middleton as its next principal. The board fired her predecessor, Principal Michael Stagliano, in June after the school’s administration failed to observe some teachers’ classes and to submit state-required documents relative to their evaluations on time.
Middleton will be the downtown charter school’s fifth principal in five years. She has more than 30 years of principal experience in Charleston County.
Todd Laventure, a certified administrator who recently relocated from Michigan, also has been hired as the school’s assistant principal.
