Suspicious package at Charleston airport garage found to be empty
The garage had been shut down, preventing access to cars, according to Becky Beaman, spokeswoman for the Charleston Aviation Authority.
Charleston County sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady confirmed deputies assisted in the investigation but referred all comments to aviation authorities.
A news release from the airport said that the container was found about noon in the parking deck.
Charleston County’s Explosive Ordinance Detachment team, State Law Enforcement Division personnel and the Charleston County Aviation Authority Police Department responded, according to the release.
At 1:25 p.m., law enforcement officials determined the container was empty and reopened the parking deck.
