SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Former Charleston Southern golfer Olivia Jordan-Higgins took a step toward claiming her LPGA Tour card Sunday when she won the Symetra Tour’s Credit Union Classic with a final round 1-over 72 at Drumlins Country Club.

The 2010 CSU graduate’s first pro victory moved her into sixth place in the Symetra Tour standings. With only four events left this season, Jordan-Higgins is in position to be one of 10 Symetra Tour players to graduate to the LPGA Tour.

A native of Great Britain, Jordan-Higgins led the Bucs to Big South women’s golf championships in 2008 and 2010 and was a four-time member of the all-conference team.

Charleston Southern, 13-21 last season, was selected ninth overall in the Big South’s preseason volleyball poll, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Liberty was picked to finish first, with middle blocker Caroline Douglas voted the preseason player of the year.

Under first-year coach Christine Mooberry, the Buccaneers are led by returning seniors Kayla Klinger, Erin LaVenice, Laura Grace Swindler and Maggie Murphy, as well as 2012 all-conference freshman team selection Meredith Parrott.
