The Grill on the Edge at 41 Center St. on Folly Beach is now The Grill and Island Bar. The menu includes seafood, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, pastas and cocktails. Referred to simply as The Grill, it’s open all week, serving lunch, dinner and brunch on weekends.

The restaurant is owned by Dan Doyle and Jason Craig.

Soup line

Ladles Homemade Soups will open Thursday in the Food Court at Citadel Mall. Owners and operators of the new restaurant are Jeff Birman and Kimberly Dover. It will serve soup, sandwiches and salads.

Pencil it in

Scratch, a hard-shell taco and craft beer restaurant taking over the former Abe’s Oyster House, will tentatively open in September. It’s at 713 Coleman Blvd. in Mount Pleasant.

Adding on

Glenn and Mindy Mappus recently launched Mr. Handyman of Charleston at 2176 Savannah Highway, Suite 109, in West Ashley.

The independently owned home repair franchise joins their lineup of other businesses: Mappus Construction, Mappus Family Associates and Mappus Land Services.

“The steady increase of existing-home sales and prices reflect a healthy rebound in the housing market,” Glenn Mappus said. “As a result, the demand for home improvement services in the area has increased as well. Our goal is to help area residents shrink those nagging ‘to-do lists’ on the refrigerator.”

Scent of success

Back in the spring, it was reported that a France-based retailer of body, face and home products, L’Occitane en Provence, was going into the space at 246 King St. Problem is it was already occupied by Yves Delorme linen shop in the Shops at Charleston Place. The linen shop will soon move, taking over a space at 197 King St. owned by Golden & Associates Antiques. Look for an opening in August for the linen shop. As for the French retailer, its website gives no hint of an opening.
