Space is still available for Korean War-era veterans to be recognized by U.S. Sen. Tim Scott on Saturday as part of the 60th anniversary of the armistice that led to the 1953 cease-fire.
The event is to be similar to the gathering Scott held earlier for veterans of World War II.
Two recognitions are planned, one for the Lowcountry at the Charleston Area Convention Center and the other covering the Upstate at the University of South Carolina campus in Spartanburg.
Each veteran will receive a special congressional certificate of appreciation, as well as a pin.
Interested veterans can register with Sen. Scott by calling his North Charleston office at (843) 727-4525.
The Lowcountry ceremony begins at 4 p.m. at the Charleston Area Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B, 5001 Coliseum Drive, North Charleston.
