Charleston County School Board moves forward on building new St. Andrews School of Math and Science

The Charleston County School Board approved on Monday night a $20.7 million contract to China Construction America of SC to build a new St. Andrews School of Math and Science in West Ashley.

The new building is slated to be finished in December 2014;

In other business, the board:

Approved hiring Toshawnka Mahone, interim principal of Northwoods Middle, to be the school’s new principal;

Approved in a 8-1 vote a revised 2013-14 academic calendar with member Elizabeth Moffly dissenting;

Agreed unanimously to delay voting until Aug. 12 on the proposed Carolina Voyager Charter School.
