Hanahan police are investigating whether a shooting late Sunday is connected with the death of a 23-year-old woman who was gunned down outside a nightclub in the Hudson Town community outside of St. George last week.

Hanahan police officers were dispatched to Sellers Road around midnight after multiple people complained of hearing gunshots in the area, an incident report states. A white Chevrolet Suburban was seen speeding away from the area toward Remount Road, witnesses reported.

Family members of shooting victim Sierra Denise Truesdale live where the incident occurred, police said.

Truesdale suffered a fatal wound to her side July 14 when gunshots erupted outside the Starlite Lounge nightclub on Hudson Road.

Dorchester County sheriff’s deputies arrested Ikeal Dacus, 23, of Bryant Street in Reevesville, and charged him with murder and two counts of attempted murder in that incident. Deputies are still searching for Dashawn Brown, 20, of Walterboro, a self-identified member of a Colleton County street gang known as the Get Money Cowboys. Dacus got into a fight with members of the gang before the shots were fired, deputies said.

Truesdale’s family members questioned whether Sunday’s shooting was an act of retaliation by the gang, the incident report states.

In the latest shooting, police located a wounded man sitting in a white pickup truck at a nearby Sunoco gas station off Remount Road, the report states. The vehicle had noticeable gunshot holes, police said.

The driver had not been hit by a bullet, police said, but he received several cuts when his driver’s side window shattered.

The man was transported to Trident Medical Center for treatment.

Dorchester County sheriff’s deputies would not comment on the possible link. The shooting remains under investigation, Lt. Tony Phinney said.
