The filing period for Charleston City Council’s November election opens next month and one incumbent already has an announced challenger.

Rodney Williams, 51, who runs an economic development consulting firm, is running for the District 2 seat currently held by Councilman Blake Hallman.

Williams was one of three candidates for the seat four years ago. The district includes the north West Ashley suburbs.

Also on the Nov. 5 ballot this year are Council Districts 4,6,8,10 and 12.

The filing period is Aug. 12 to 26th. The filing fee is $150. For more information contact the McNair Law Firm, 100 Calhoun St., (843) 723-7831, which is the legal representative for the city’s municipal election commission.

City voters will also fill a seat on the Charleston Water System Board of Commissioners.
