Jonathan Miller’s third installment in the “Sammy the Wonder Dachshund” series is now available for sale.
This time around, Sammy is an Internet fact-checker charged with proving whether Pluto is a planet. In “Sammy in Space” the dog trains as an astronaut, learns to fly, operate a parachute and build a shelter. Then he blasts off.
Miller layered pieces of card stock and construction paper to create his detailed illustrations, a process that he loves to describe to students throughout the Carolinas. The illustrations for his latest book took an average of 30 hours per page to build.
“The Adventures of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund: Sammy in Space” is available online at www.sammydogbooks.com and locally at Wonder Works, Blue Bicycle Books, Sugar Snap Pea, Barton’s and the Historic Charleston Foundation.
Miller will be at two free book signing events this week where books, original art and prints will be available for sale:
4-9 p.m. Wed., Triangle Char and Bar, 1440 Ben Sawyer Boulevard, Mount Pleasant.
4:30-10 p.m., Thurs., Upstairs at Midtown, 559 King St., Charleston.
