A suspect in the fatal shooting of a woman celebrating her birthday at a St. George nightclub has been arrested.
Ikeal Emar Dacus, 23, of Bryant Road in Reevesville was charged with murder Wednesday.
Sierra Denise Truesdale of Goose Creek, a Trident Tech student celebrating her 23rd birthday, was shot to death early Sunday morning at the Starlite Lounge. She was hit when shots were fired toward a group outside the club. Two others were wounded. Investigators don’t believe Truesdale was a target and said the shooting was likely gang-related, although they’re not saying if Dacus had any gang connections.
His criminal record includes a conviction for possession of less than a gram of cocaine base or meth in 2008, according to Dorchester County court records. He was charged with use of a vehicle without permission in February. That case is pending.
More arrests in the nightclub shootings are likely, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Sam Richardson said.
