Charleston County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a man was found apparently beaten and left in a ditch Monday night.
Deputies were called to Sallie Street on James Island concerning a disturbance in that area about 11:30 p.m., Maj. Jim Brady said.
A 35-year-old man was found lying in a ditch near Sallie and Carla streets. The man had trauma to his upper body consistent with being assaulted, Brady said.
Paramedics took the man to Medical University Hospital in critical condition, he said.
Deputies are working to identify any suspects in the case and to determine a motive in the attack, Brady said.
Anyone with information on the case can call the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office at 202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
