Jackie Bradley Jr. didn’t wait long to make an impact in his return to the majors, but the former South Carolina Gamecocks star outfielder took the long way to the Tuesday night spotlight. Bradley caught a cross-country flight to Seattle early Tuesday morning after he was recalled from triple A Pawtucket and hit a tiebreaking home run in Boston’s 11-8 victory over the Mariners.
Boston snapped a three-game losing streak.
Former Clemson shortstop Brad Miller went 3-for-4 with a three-run double for Seattle.
“I’m tired. I’m going to crash out early tonight and try to get some rest. But it’s great,” Bradley said after the game. “I had to dig a little deep. You always get a little adrenaline when you’re out there and having fun.”
It was Bradley’s second homer of his rookie season.
Boston was down 5-1 but got two-run homers from Dustin Pedroia and Mike Napoli before Bradley’s homer.
