Star-spangled dogs, pooped patriots and the rockets’ red glare: this week’s July 4th assignment contained a little bit of everything.

We had 39 submissions in all. Congratulations to Mike Weber of Mount Pleasant, whose picture of fireworks exploding over the Ravenel Bridge was selected by our editors to appear in the People section Saturday. Pick up a copy of the paper Saturday to read what our judges liked most about the photo.

In light of the forecast, this week’s assignment is: Rainy Days. Send your best Lowcountry rainy day photo to by noon Tuesday.

Here are the rules. Please read them carefully:

Include your name, town and where the photo was taken.

If you want your photo to be eligible to run in the newspaper it must be at least 1,500 pixels and not have a commercial watermark.

Our editors will select which photo will appear each week. We reserve the right to not publish any photo for any reason.

Have fun!
