GILBERT, S.C. -- U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) is spending the July 4th holiday by celebrating South Carolina’s plentiful peaches.
Scott will serve as grand marshal today at the Lexington County Peach Festival and Parade in Gilbert.
The event caps off a week in which Scott has visited a dozen South Carolina counties.
On Tuesday, the Republican visited Jasper, Colleton, Hampton, Allendale and Bamberg counties. The next day, he held meet-and-greet events in Edgefield and Saluda counties and a business round table in Barnwell County.
Scott also visited the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site near Aiken on Wednesday. Last weekend, he attended events in Horry and Richland counties.
