Summerville’s fireworks show planned for the Fourth of July will not be held Thursday because of soggy conditions on the field due to the weeks of rain.
“Our fields are totally underwater,” said Erik Davis, the assistant manager of the Parks and Recreation Department. “It’s too muddy.”
The show was supposed to take place at Gahagan Plantation Park, 515 West Boundary in Summerville. The show is expected to be rescheduled for another date, Davis said.
Goose Creek also canceled its Fabulous Fourth in the Creek festival because of the condition of the Municipal Center grounds. Officials said the rain has caused the grounds to be unsafe for event parking. The Goose Creek festival and fireworks will not be rescheduled.
