Walterboro police are investigating a shooting that wounded one person on Sunday.
Police officers were dispatched to Beach Road shortly before 1 a.m., an incident report states. Colleton County sheriff’s deputies and rescue crews were already at the scene, police said.
A 20-year-old repeatedly yelled to officers, “They shot me, they shot me,” according to the report. The man had a gunshot wound to his right forearm, police said.
Police questioned the man and asked if he knew who pulled the trigger, but he responded that he ran and didn’t see anything.
The man was transported to a hospital and treated, police said.
Police have not identified a suspect in the case. The shooting remains under investigation, police said.
