Police have released surveillance photos of two man who robbed a North Charleston bank and led police on a chase that ended in a wreck Monday.
The men entered the Sun Trust Bank at Dorchester Road and Club Course Drive shortly before 6 p.m. and demanded money, North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said. The men fled the bank with an undetermined amount of money to a waiting vehicle with a male driver inside.
Officers spotted the vehicle around Patriots Boulevard, and the driver failed to stop for police.
At some point during the pursuit, the driver stopped and bailed out of the vehicle, Pryor said. The passenger got behind the wheel and started driving. The pursuit ended on S.C. Highway 61 near Givhans when the driver collided with another vehicle.
Police deployed dogs to search for the driver and reportedly found money as they tracked the man.
The Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
