Reymond Nunez led the Charleston RiverDogs (43-34, 4-5) offense with four RBIs and a homer in a 5-0 victory over the Hickory Crawdads (45-34, 6-3) in South Atlantic League play Friday night at Riley Park in front of 4,891 fans.
The RiverDogs wasted no time as they struck for two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Cito Culver and Angelo Gumbs led off with back-to-back singles, and then stole third and second, respectively. Both scored on a Nunez two-out single.
The RiverDogs extended their lead in the fourth. With two outs and no one on base, Jake Cave walked, went to second when Wes Wilson was hit by a pitch, advanced to third on a Danny Oh single, and then scored the third Charleston run on a passed ball.
In the bottom of the seventh, Nunez ripped a two-run line drive home run over the left-field wall.
The third game of the series is Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Righty Cesar Vargas (2-3, 3.61 ERA) will be on the mound for Charleston and will face righty C.J. Edwards (2-1, 3.00 ERA).

The annual Kindness Beats Blindness RP Auction benefiting the MUSC Storm Eye Institute will run through the end of the sixth inning. The Blood Alliance team will be on site from 4:30-730 p.m., and everyone who registers to donate will get a free four-pack of tickets.
