Charleston native Delbert Foster has been named acting vice president of research and economic development at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg.

University leaders say Foster brings a wealth of experience to the position. He has worked in the university’s 1890 Research and Extension department since 1998.

Foster, who began the job this week, replaces John Rosenthal.

As acting vice president, Foster will provide oversight to: sponsored programs, the Environmental Policy Institute, the TRIO Programs and 1890 Research and Extension.
