Boeing has teamed up with flight-tracking website FlightAware and Google Earth to allow fans of the 787 Dreamliner to follow the new planes as they travel the globe.
And this weekend, the aerospace giant, which makes 787s at its North Charleston factory complex, is offering demonstrations of the new web feature at “Dreamliner LIVE” events around town.
According to the company, Lowcountry residents can “experience in-progress 787 flights in picture perfect 3-D views” as well as virtually explore the inside and outside of the high-tech but problem-plagued jet.
The first event is Friday afternoon until 7 p.m. at the Tanger Outlet Mall just down International Boulevard from the plane-making plant. Boeing will also have a Dreamliner LIVE booth set up at the Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
