Police are searching for a man who robbed a gas station clerk in Mount Pleasant at knifepoint early Friday morning. Police arrived at the Kangaroo station at 2846 N. Highway 17 at about 3:53 a.m.
The clerk told police she was standing behind the register when a black man wearing a white T-shirt, blue pants and a white cloth mask came into the store wielding a large silver knife, according to an incident report.
The clerk told police she tried to walk out of the station but the suspect came up from behind her and held the knife up demanding cash, the report stated.
She told police she gave the suspect $100 in small bills and that he then ran out of the store. The incident remains under investigation.
