Mount Pleasant police have released surveillance photos of a man wanted in a Monday night armed robbery at a local gas station.

Officers were sent at 8:14 p.m. to the Refuel gas station at 1181 Venning Road, along the intersection with Hungryneck Boulevard, an incident report states.

They learned that a man entered the station, showed the clerk a gun and robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of money, Maj. Stan Gragg said. The robber ran from the store and escaped with the cash, Gragg said.

A witness at the scene described the robber as a black man wearing a gray hoodie and a black shirt, the report said. The man was about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed between 150 and 200 pounds.

Police are asking anyone with information on the suspect or the crime to call the department at 884-4176.

This suspect should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, police said.
