Picture the house of Gen Xers and their energetic children, boomers and their social teenagers or seniors and their scores of grandkids.

Any of the scenarios are possible, moreover suitable, for a finely remodeled and subtly spiffed-up residence built in 1994 in Ashley Harbor.

The two-story house, at 2229 Weepoolow Trail, is on the market for $769,000.

Among the highlights of the 4,647-square-foot home with five bedrooms, four full baths and a powder room is a ground level master suite.

“It’s unusual to find a home of this size with the master down,” says Will Dammeyer, Realtor with William Means Real Estate and listing agent. “I think that’s a great attraction.”

Because of the all-encompassing layout, 2229 Weepoolow Trail would be alluring to mature buyers who want the convenience of a first-floor bedroom while also pleasing to younger or middle aged families for the versatile kid-friendly upstairs touting large sleeping quarters and a sprawling recreation room over the three-car garage.

Dammeyer says the place that sets the tone for the Lowcountry-style house is the columned front porch, plenty wide enough for rocking chairs, potted plants and a piece of furniture or two.

Spotlighting the remodeled interior is the spacious family room, made even larger in a recent renovation when the living quarters were pushed out to enclose what had been the back porch. The extended square footage includes a wet bar and wine cooler. There’s also a wood-burning fireplace and bookcase. It connects to an upgraded kitchen sporting granite countertops, multi-burner stove built into the center island, dishwasher, refrigerator, double oven and ample cabinet space. The dining room is near the front of the house, bridging the kitchen and the foyer. Off the family room is a cozy formal living room.

Down a hall is the master suite, marked by a decent-sized bedroom and a cushy bathroom complete with whirlpool tub, dual sinks and walk-in closets. Across the way is good-sized study.

An oversized mud room is in back, off the kitchen. A door leads to the garage, which offers lots of room for cars and storage. Other first-floor features are crown molding, hardwood floors in most rooms and high ceilings.

Dominating the second floor is the full-length room over the garage, which includes a full bath. In a brochure for the property, Dammeyer says, “This is a great spot to use as a playroom, media space, additional bedroom or another family room.”

At the head of the stairs is an open landing area. The four bedrooms include one that’s being used as a small den and two that are connected by a Jack and Jill bath. A fourth bedroom is similar to a suite, sporting its own bathroom with a shower-tub combination. Dormer windows accentuate the bedrooms.

Outside, 2229 Weepoolow Trail showcases a broad front yard and a moderate-sized lawn in back that’s fenced on all but one side (there’s an “invisible” electric fence for a pet dog on that side).

Dammeyer says the gated Ashley Harbor community is a big plus. “It’s a very family oriented neighborhood,” he says. Just 15 minutes from downtown, the village has easy access to large employers such as Boeing.

Comprising the neighborhood amenities are a large lake; boat landing on Bulls Creek, which leads to the Ashley River; walking and jogging trails; and tennis courts.

Dammeyer says he’s had interest in the house from possible buyers. “We’ve had good activity on it.” He acknowledges that Ashley Harbor is “a neighborhood (that) I’m not sure a lot of people from out of town know about. (But) local people know.”

The house is toward the front of the neighborhood. Traveling west, cross the Ashley River bridge and veer right onto St. Andrews Boulevard. Follow the boulevard for about two miles and stay left onto Ashley River Road. Continue across Sam Rittenburg Boulevard and proceed about two miles. Turn right on Ashley Hall Plantation Road. Go less than a mile and make a left on Portside Way into Ashley Harbor. Once through the gate, take the second right, which is Weepoolow Trail. On the right is 2229 Weepoolow Trail.
