Horry County police arrest 24-year-old Charleston man after seizing $500,000 worth of marijuana from storage unit

Horry County police arrested a Charleston man today after seizing 153 pounds of marijuana from a storage area in Conway.

Jacob Colby Phillips, 24, is currently in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County, police said. Charges are pending, police said.

About two weeks ago, Horry County narcotics detectives launched an investigation after obtaining information on some illegal drug activity. The investigation led them to a storage unit at 2787 Hwy. 501 in the Conway section of Horry County, Sgt. Robert Kegler said.

Today, detectives made contact with Phillips at the storage unit, where they seized 153 pounds of marijuana with an approximate street value of $500,000. Kegler said.

In addition, detectives seized a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, Kegler said.
