For the second year in a row, a Charleston area resident landed a win in Belk’s Southern Designer Showcase competition.
Anne Hughes Windmueller of James Island was selected for her jewelry designs.
She was among 13 winners announced Wednesday in the Charlotte-based department store’s second annual contest. It was launched last year as part of Belk’s 125th anniversary celebration.
“I’m still in shock,” Windmueller said after the announcement. “It is just utter joy. I have been making jewelry for 10 years. It’s wonderful that a department store like Belk is taking me to a different platform.”
Windmueller’s Anne Belen jewelry line includes necklaces, earrings and bracelets made of sterling silver, gold fill and semi-precious gemstones, according to her website. They will be launched in Belk stores and online next spring. Her items can also be found at Monkee’s on Daniel Island.
Last year, two Charleston area residents made the final cut of 15. Megan Masters won for her dress designs, and Blake Vaigneur for his line of Rowen shoes.
Belk has 303 stores throughout 16 Southern states, including 36 in South Carolina and four in the Charleston region.
