Project HERO (Helping Enrich Reading Opportunities) is an AmeriCorps program that provides literacy tutoring to students in the Innovation Zone Learning Community during the school day. This school year, more than 25 members have been placed at nine elementary schools and have received training in three research-based literacy curricula. More than 1,000 students were served by Project HERO AmeriCorps members.
Adderly was selected Member of the Year for her dedication to the students at Chicora Elementary School. The students whom she tutors make great gains academically. She consistently supports them in extracurricular events and even served as the fourth-grade Math Bowl coach and helped lead them to first place at the Innovation Zone Math Bowl.
