Berkeley deputies arrest 15 at Mudville Road check point

Berkeley County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 15 people this week at a traffic check point designed to crack down on drugs.

The Sheriff’s Office Selective Enforcement Team and its Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic team conducted the check point operation on Mudville Road, about 10 miles west of Moncks Corner, on Wednesday and Thursday.

Eleven of the 15 arrested were charged with simple possession of marijuana, according to a statement from Berkeley Sheriff’s spokesman Dan Moon. Two were arrested for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and trafficking in cocaine base. One was charged with driving with unlawful alcohol concentration; another was charged with driving under suspension, according to the statement, which included no names of those arrested.
