FOLLY BEACH - Visitors this season are discovering the ban on drinking alcohol on the beach isn’t the only change this year.
Parking rates in the municipal-owned lots are $7 a day. That’s a change from last year when it was $1 an hour.
Town leaders went to a new vendor and contract this year. The town has about 400 spaces on the island.
Rates from March 15-September 15 are $7 a day, and will go to $5 a day for the other half of the year.
City Council did away with drinking on the beach after the habit got out of hand last year, including at a July 4 beach party that drew thousands.
