A small field will tee off today in the Charleston Women’s City Amateur golf tournament at Municipal Golf Course. The tournament returns after a one-year absence because of low participation.
Three dozen players are scheduled to play in an event that encompasses a Charleston Area Ladies Golf Association (CALGA) event as well as the City Amateur and Senior City Amateur.
There will be a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. today for all players. The CALGA tournament is a one-day event, the Women’s Senior Amateur is a two-day event wrapping up on Wednesday and the Women’s City Am is a three-day event concluding Thursday.
Neither of the past two champions are entered. Kory Thompson, the Charleston Southern women’s golf coach at the time, won the 2011 title by 23 shots. Karen Keefe was the 2010 winner, claiming a two-shot victory.
