Gov. Nikki Haley cancelled her two planned appearances in the Lowcountry today to spend time with her husband Michael, who is home on leave.
Haley was set to visit Sanders Clyde Elementary School in Charleston at 10 a.m. and then appear before the East Cooper GOP club at noon. Both will be rescheduled for a later date.
Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey said Capt. Michael Haley is in the state with his family for up to two weeks — a leave approved by the South Carolina National Guard. She has no other public appearances scheduled for the week.
Haley’s Deputy Chief of Staff Ted Pitts filled in for his boss today with the East Cooper GOP.
