Charleston police are searching for two men who may have information concerning a purse snatching that happened downtown last month.

On April 27, a 26-year-old Charleston woman told police that she was leaving King Street and headed home about 2:30 a.m. when a man snatched her purse at the intersection of Rutledge Avenue and Cannon Street.

The woman fell to the ground, scraping her knee and hand, an incident report states.

She only recalled that the man wore a dark hoodie, had white hands and was about 6 feet tall, police said.

The purse contained the woman’s iPhone, credit cards and an unknown amount of cash in her wallet, according to the incident report.

One of the credit cards was later denied at a Kangaroo Express gas station, police said.

Charleston police today released images of two men who spokesman Charles Francis said may have information about the incident.

Anyone who knows the men can call Charleston police at 577-7434 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
