YEScarolina hosted its second annual Motley Rice County Business Plan Competition on May 6 at the College of Charleston Business School.

The following students are top classroom winners who competed: Ricci Allen, Devante North, Demetrius Jenkins and London Mack, all of West Ashley High School; Tyler Pinckney of Fort Dorchester High School; Maria Breshers, Ivan Mondragon and Vernon Washington, all of Military Magnet Academy; Drew Aikman, Kristin Linscott, Luke Varadi and Trey Floyd, all of Wando High School; Evan Knox and Pinita Tovar, both of Charleston Collegiate School; Ashanti Ford, Rebehak Jones and Edward Jenkins, all of St. John’s High School; Aquila Brown of the Charleston School of Math and Science; Joselle Monyette and Victoria Turner, both of Summerville High School; and Laquanda Blake and Taquan Davis, both of James Island Charter High School.

The top five business plan winners are:

First place, $1,000

Evan Knox, sophomore, Charleston Collegiate.

Business: Bullseye Web Design, a quick and affordable service providing website design, hosting and maintenance.

Aquila Brown, sophomore, School of Math and Science.

Business: Trusol Unique Designs, a customized hand-drawn portrait service.

Third place, $250

Kristen Linscott, junior, Wando High.

Teachers: Misty Rohaly and Alfred Olivetti.

Business: Charleston Candle Designs, a company making hand-poured soy candles that are unique to Charleston with scents like “Coastal Cotton,” “King St. Vanilla” and “Sweet Carolina.”

Runners-up were Drew Aikman (Drew’s Detailing) and Luke Varadi (Reel Fly Charters) of Wando High, who were awarded $200 each. All top five students will compete in the state event in June.
