The Charleston Battery will be going for their sixth straight victory with a road matchup at the Charlotte Eagles at 7 p.m. today.
Charleston (5-1-0) is second in the USL Pro standings following Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Wilmington Hammerheads. Charlotte (2-0-3) is coming off a 3-3 tie with the Richmond Kickers on May 4.
The two teams faced each other three times in the regular season last year with the Battery winning the first one before losing the last two.
Today’s game will be broadcast on WQNT 1450-AM and will also be available via a live video stream at USLnation.com.
The Battery will next face Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo reserves at 11 a.m. Sunday in Houston.
Citadel running back Darien Robinson was named to the College Football Performance Awards watch list for the upcoming season.
Robinson, one of 33 running backs chosen for the list, joins teammate Ben Dupree, who was selected to the watch list for quarterbacks last week.
Robinson rushed for 1,021 yards last year to become the first Bulldog to go over the 1,000-yard plateau since Tory Cooper in 2007. He averaged 7.2 yards per carry and scored six touchdowns. He ranked seventh in the Southern Conference and 39th in the nation with an average of 91.5 yards per game.
Robinson enters his senior season with 1,969 career rushing yards to rank 12th in school history.
The Bulldogs open the season at home Aug. 31 against Charleston Southern.
