WEST COLUMBIA--The Bishop England boys’ golf team won the Class AA state golf championship with a 615-627 victory over Pendleton Tuesday at the Indian River Golf Course.
The Bishops led 306-313 over the defending state champions after the first day and had another good round on the 6,502-yard par 71 course.
Bishop England won despite Pendleton’s 1-2 duo of Carson Young and Austin Langdale, two outstanding golfers who are headed to Clemson.
Young was medallist with a 144 and Austin was second with a 145. But the Bishops won with depth as four golfers scored well enough to earn all-state honors.
Jeremy Grab was third overall with a 146, including a first-day score of 69. Jamie Wilson shot a 152, while Patrick Ging carded a 156. Will Sheppard had a two-day total of 161.
