When families talk about vacationing at their “place at the lake,” one image that may pop up is of a rustic cabin on a still pond miles from town.
That’s not necessarily the case: some lakes are quite close to civilization. They aren’t usually in a city. But even then, there are exceptions, such as a small lake in the center of North Charleston. The body of water is rimmed by the Lake Palmetto neighborhood, which showcases full-fledged townhomes.
Many buyers live in their residences, but some owners lease them out. One such rental is 4979 Lake Palmetto Lane, a four-bedroom and three-and-a-half bath townhome that’s available for lease June 1. The rent is $1,395 a month.
The residence is more than 2,200 square feet, says Samantha Stuart Warren, broker with Old Dominion Realtors in Mount Pleasant who is handling the lease.
She says the property has a number of attractive features, notably the location. Along with bordering a small lake, the townhome is adjacent to interstates 26 and 526 “in the middle of all that North Charleston has to offer,” Warren says.
The three-story walkup is a few minutes drive from Charleston International Airport and from the Boeing jet aircraft plant. It’s also short distances from shopping and dining.
North Charleston Coliseum and Charleston Area Convention Center are a minute away, she says. Downtown Charleston, meanwhile, is eight miles via I-26.
Warren says the residence is perk-filled. There’s “one whole floor of nothing but the master suite, over 700 square feet,” she says.
Elsewhere, 4979 Lake Palmetto Lane showcases hardwood floors in the foyer and tiled floors in bathrooms and the kitchen. Distinguishing the two suites are garden tubs with jets in the bathrooms, walk in showers and oversized closets.
The third floor consists solely of the master suite, which shows off a large bath with double vanities. Linen closets are on the second and third floors. Three bedrooms and two full baths are on the middle level.
Warren says the spacious kitchen opens into dining and living areas, “making entertaining easy.” The living room touts a fireplace, and there’s a powder room off the living and dining area. Out the back door is a deck, she says, “that actually hangs out over the lake.”
Another spotlight is an included stackable washer and dryer on the second floor next to the bedrooms.
“Don’t let this beautiful home pass you by,” she says.
The property is just off West Montague Avenue. Heading west from downtown, take I-26 to exit 213. Follow the off ramp to West Montague Avenue and turn left. Take West Montague for about a mile and make a left at the traffic light. Stay left to Lake Palmetto Lane. Ahead is 4979 Lake Palmetto Lane.
