Berkeley County firefighters battled a blaze Saturday afternoon at a rubber recycling plant between Moncks Corner and Goose Creek.
Several county fire departments and other agencies responded to the fire around 2:15 p.m. inside the Viva Recycling plant at 111 Old Depot Road off Cypress Gardens Road.
No injuries were reported, but firefighters continued to work on the blaze throughout the afternoon, according to Berkeley County Emergency Preparedness Department spokesman Nick Marino. He did not know the extent of damage to the plant nor the cause of the blaze. He said the fire had been contained.
Eleven fire departments along with EMS, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Preparedness officials were on the scene.
