Citadel ring monument on its way to Texas for repair work

Michael Snowden of Pensacola, Fla. took this picture on May 8 of The Citadel's ring statue while it was westbound on Interstate 10 in Mobile, Ala., en route to Texas for repairs.

The Citadel’s ring monument has gone on a Summer Break road trip.

The 3,800-pound replica of the school’s iconic clas ring was taken back to the Bastrop, Tex. foundry that made it for some repair work, spokeswoman Charlene Gunnells said.

“We expect it back in July or August,” she said.

Michael Snowden of Pensacola, Fla. snapped a picture of the monument while it was strapped to a trailer heading west on Interstate 10 in Mobile, Ala. on May 8th.

The school shot video of the monument’s removal and put it on YouTube.
