Mount Pleasant man arrested after witnesses say he dropped Jeep top and shot it

Christopher Joseph Mancusi, 42, of Stockdale Lane in Mount Plesant was arrested Sunday after witnesses said he shot his Jeep's hard top after dropping it.

A Mount Pleasant man got mad after dropping the top to his Jeep Sunday, so he got a gun and shot it, witnesses told police.

Christopher Joseph Mancusi, 42, of Stockdale Lane fired the gun about 2 p.m. Sunday at Smart and Stop Safe Storage at 1108 Stockdale Lane, according to the incident report.

Witnesses told police Mancusi was trying to place the hard top on his green Jeep Wrangler when he dropped it and broke a window, so he got a gun and shot out the other window. A woman who was standing nearby with two friends told police he said, “You got a problem with that, I’ll shoot you too.”

When officers arrived, Mancusi’s wife gave them the gun, a Ruger LCP 380 automatic, according to the report.

Mancusi was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling. He was released from the Charleston County jail Monday on $480 bail.
