LAKEWOOD, N.J.— The Lakewood BlueClaws (9-17) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after one inning and held on to hand the Charleston RiverDogs (13-12) their sixth-straight road loss, 6-0, Thursday night at FirstEnergy Park.
RiverDogs starter Daniel Camarena (0-2) struggled on the mound. He went four innings and gave up six runs, four earned, on five hits and struck out three.
The RiverDogs had six hits, half of which came in the final two innings. Catcher Peter O’Brien and designated hitter Reymond Nunez each went 2 for 4 with a pair of singles.
Lakewood’s Nicholas Hanson threw five shutout innings and allowed just two hits and struck out five.
The RiverDogs and BlueClaws close out their three-game series today, with Rafael De Paula (1-2, 3.63 ERA) scheduled to start for Charleston.
