Promoted this week by the Houston Astros, former Citadel pitcher Asher Wojciechowski made his Class AAA debut Thursday night.
And it was a good one.
Wojciechowski (Beaufort High School) worked four innings in his first AAA start, allowing three hits and one earned run in Oklahoma City’s 9-1 win over Nashville. Wojciechowski, a first-round draft choice by Toronto in 2010, got a no-decision and is 0-0 with a 2.25 earned-run average at AAA.
Elsewhere among Lowcountry players in pro baseball:
• Justin Greene (Stratford HS) was 1 for 3 and scored a run for Class AA Mobile. The outfielder is batting .293 for the season.
• In the majors, Orioles catcher Matt Wieters (Stratford HS) was 1 for 4 in Baltimore’s 5-1 win over the Angels. He’s hitting .229.
