Charleston firefighters extinguished a blaze at a West Ashley apartment complex this morning.
The fire ignited at Moss Creek Apartments, 1800 William Kennerty Drive, according to the fire department.
The complex sits off Highway 61 near West Ashley Middle School.
Crews are still at the scene.
Kim Clay of West Ashley said that her 22-year-old son likely broke his ankle jumping out of a second story window to escape the flames. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital for treatment.
Three injuries were reported with one taken to the hospital for further treatment, Charleston police Cpl. Fred Bowie said.
The damaged apartment building contained 16 units, he said.
