Mark Epstein, a St. John’s High School guidance counselor and longtime basketball coach, has been selected to the 2013 class of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. A sports enthusiast with strong basketball ties to renowned semi-pro teams sponsored by his late father in Worcester, Mass., Epstein will be inducted at a June 22 ceremony in Worcester.
Other 2013 inductees include Epstein’s father Charlie and brother Bob, former NBA players such as Michael Adams, Rick Mahorn, Chris Dudley and Eric Murdock, current college head coaches John Calipari and Tommy Amaker and former U.S. Senators Scott Brown and William Cohen.
The Epstein’s semi-pro team featured over 20 eventual NBA draft picks during its long run.
Previous inductees include Ray Allen, Jim Calhoun, Geno Auriemma, Julius Erving and Tom Heinsohn.
