The South Carolina Independent School Association has recognized Pinewood Preparatory School teachers Connie Coyle and Sarah Ramsey as Master Teachers.
In addition, Pinewood teachers Daniel Stone and Rhett Frampton have been selected as finalists in the 2013 SCISA Teacher of the Year Program.
“We are thrilled to announce the addition of Connie Coyle and Sarah Ramsey as Master Teachers,” said Head of School Steve Mandell.
“They join 15 Pinewood teachers with the SCISA Master Teacher designation. Pinewood boasts the highest number of Master Teachers in the state. We are also pleased that Daniel Stone and Rhett Frampton are finalists for state Teacher of the Year.”
Coyle and Ramsey are among a group chosen as Master Teachers statewide through the SCISA program. Master Teachers must have master’s degrees and a minimum of five years in the classroom, among other criteria set by SCISA.
Teacher of the Year finalists Stone and Frampton were nominated by Pinewood for consideration and were selected from more than 3,000 teachers statewide. They will be interviewed by a panel of SCISA officials during the finalist review process.
Coyle is a high school history teacher at Pinewood. Ramsey is the director of Lower School admissions at Pinewood.
Stone, in his 42nd year of teaching, has been instrumental in building the school’s international student program, and has hosted close to 20 foreign students for varying lengths of time.
Frampton has more than 30 years of experience in education, two decades of that at Pinewood. While taking time off to raise her children, Frampton served on the Pinewood Board of Trustees, chairing its education committee and working on the accreditation steering committee. She joined the Pinewood faculty in 1993 as a middle school math and science teacher.
