A 75-year-old man is out on bail, accused of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old North Charleston boy.
Charles Carley, of Evelyn Drive in North Charleston, is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, court records show.
On Monday, Carley’s care giver visited North Charleston City Hall to report a possible sexual assault, police said.
The woman told police that she checked on Carley at his home that morning.
Carley spoke with the woman about a sexual act that he had performed on a six-year-old boy, police said. He voiced that he fondled the child’s genitals and had the boy touch his as well, an incident report states.
The assault ended when the boy’s mother walked into the room, according to the report.
The care giver immediately reported the incident to authorities, police said.
A judge on Tuesday set Carley’s bail at $25,000, court records show.
