Charleston came out on top in a pitchers’ duel on Sunday, with the RiverDogs winning a 1-0 decision over Kannapolis in front of 3,621 fans at Riley Park.

Taylor Dugas scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the eighth inning for the RiverDogs (13-10).

Starting pitcher Jake Cose had a strong performance for the Intimidators (10-14), allowing only one hit in seven innings, while striking out six.

RiverDogs starter Gabe Encinas allowed no runs on five hits and struck out three in six innings before being relieved by Ben Paullus (1-0).

The RiverDogs look to complete the four-game series sweep today in a 7:05 p.m. start.
