April 26: Bird Walks at Beachwalker Park. 8:30-11 a.m. The southwestern end of Kiawah Island is an excellent place to spot seabirds and shorebirds. Group will hike nearly two miles of pristine beach looking for a variety of birds, including raptors and songbirds. The program is free; preregistration required. April 27: Local Sea Kayak Trips: Coburg Creek Kayak Exploration. 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. This fun tour that passes by an old dairy while wind-ing through a salt marsh creek. Before the tea party, group will visit the 100-plus-year-old Tea Farm site and harvest tea from naturalized plants. Take tea leaves you collect home to make your own green and black tea. April 27: Early Morning Bird Walks at Caw Caw Interpretive Center. 8:30-11:30 a.m. This walk through many distinct habitats will allow group to view and discuss a variety of birds, butterflies and other organisms. April 28: Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Instructional Classes: Intro to SUP-Level 1 at James Island County Park. 1-3 p.m. This fun and relaxed class will get you started with instruction on safety and the proper paddling technique that will allow you to progress comfortably at your own pace. April 30: How to Belay at James Island County Park. 5:30-7 p.m. Learn to belay in this abbreviated version of the popular Introduction to Climbing class. Age: 14 & up. Fee: $18/$15 CCR Discount. Preregistration required.
April 30: After-School Adventures: Stand-Up Paddleboarding at Palmetto Islands County Park. 4:30-6 p.m. After school ends for the day, come to the park and have some fun on Stand-Up Paddleboards. April 30-May 5: Rock Climbing Trips: Gym to Crag Weekend. 5:30-6:30 p.m. (Tuesday), departs noon (Saturday) and returns 8 p.m. (Sunday). Join group for two days of top rope climbing at Crowders Mountain, N.C. The high-friction routes offer an aesthetic setting for learning outdoor movement skills and top rope anchoring techniques. At the conclusion of the weekend, climbers will have the skills necessary to climb independently outdoors, as well as the background to take the next step into more technical climbing.
