Students around the Lowcountry are completing service projects that help improve their community, their lives and their environment.
Students from West Ashley Middle and St. Stephen Elementary schools are participating in Trident United Way's Tricounty Youth Service Day, while students at Mount Pleasant Academy are celebrating Green Week.
Eighth-graders from West Ashley Middle are paying it forward by mentoring elementary school students.
St. Stephen Elementary students are giving back by spending time with with residents of a local nursing home.
And students at Mount Pleasant Academy will celebrate the school’s environmental initiatives during their second annual Green Day.
Their efforts coincide with Global Youth Service Day.
