The former Boathouse and short-lived Rice Market restaurants at 549 East Bay in downtown Charleston will become Bay Street Biergarten by this fall, according to NAI Avant, the real estate firm that brokered the deal.
The 7,400-square-foot property sold for $3.025 million. It has been vacant since June 2011, when the rice-themed Rice Market closed after six months. Before that, it sat empty after the Boathouse closed in 2009.
The building was sold last week to a group called CCP Family LLC, according to Charleston County property records. CCPs registered to Celeste Patrick of Patrick Properties Hospitality Group, owner of Fish restaurant, the American Theater, Lowndes Grove Plantation and the William Aiken House.
