Former College of Charleston basketball standout Trent Wiedeman will join ex-Cougar assistant coach Mark Byington at Georgia Southern.
Wiedeman, a 6-8 a junior, will transfer to Georgia Southern, a C of C official confirmed today. He will sit out the 2013-14 season and have one season left to play.
Plagued by ankle injuries, Wiedeman played in 26 games last season, starting four and averaging 8.4 points and 5.5 rebounds for the 24-11 Cougars.
At Georgia Southern, Wiedeman will rejoin Byington, who was named the Eagles’ new head coach on April 1. Byington spent nine years at College of Charleston before working as an assistant at Virginia Tech last season.
