American Red Cross volunteers assisted a Summerville family of three displaced by a fire overnight.
The Summerville Fire Department on Monday extinguished a blaze that destroyed a home at 209 Eagle Drive, Red Cross spokeswoman Lexie Leyman said.
Red Cross volunteers provided three adults who lived at the home with emergency supplies including money, clothing, hygiene items, toys and medicine, according to a news release.
The organization’s Carolina Lowcountry chapter has assisted 898 people in Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties since July 1, 2012, the release said.
